As a citizen concerned about our nation’s health care system, I thought you’d like to know that the health care bill being rammed through the House contains 10 years worth of tax increases to pay for only 6 years worth of benefits.   These taxes total $500 billion dollars over 10 years.  Many of these taxes will affect Americans earning less than $200,000 a year, despite the President’s promise to avoid such taxes.
Here are just a few of the taxes contained in the bill:

• $750 penalty per worker charged to employers who fail to provide government-sanctioned health insurance
• Tax on brand name drugs—totaling $2.3 billion
• Increased penalty for early withdrawal from your HSA (from 10% to 20%)
• Tax on medical devices—totaling $19.2 billion
• 10% tax on indoor tanning services

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOU:  Some of these taxes may affect you directly.  Others, like the employer mandate, will cost our economy desperately needed jobs.  Others will have ripple effects through the system that will raise prices for everyone.

THE DOCTOR’S DIAGNOSIS:  America needs common sense health reform, not job-killing taxes.  Future Congresses will be under pressure to raise taxes even further to pay for future years of an expanded government-administered health care system.
As this process unfolds, I will continue to work to represent you, bring common-sense to this debate, expose abuses of power and do all I can to prevent bad policy from becoming law.

OSU Young Americans For Liberty Host “Freedom Watch With Judge Napolitano” and Panel of Distinguished Speakers
COLUMBUS, OH, March 12, 2010.  A near-capacity crowd gathered in historic Newport Music Hall to view a live taping of “Freedom Watch with Judge Napolitano” on Monday night. Congressman Ron Paul headlined a slate of panelists on the popular Fox News program, along with Ohio Liberty Council Leaders Chris Littleton, Maurice Thompson, and Jason Rink. The panel, which also featured Ohio State Senator Tim Grendell and Sheriff Richard Mack, covered America’s incremental loss of liberty and state sovereignty. The Ohio State University Young Americans for Liberty hosted the appearance by Texas Congressman Ron Paul (R) and Fox News Judicial Analyst Judge Andrew Napolitano.

At the conclusion of “Freedom Watch,” Congressman Paul spoke for 45 minutes about his plan for restoring a tradition of liberty to both government and individuals. He also urged the young people in the hall to effect change within the political system. Congressman Ron Paul, who received significant support on the Ohio State campus in the 2008 Presidential primary, was asked what advice he could give to the young people in attendance. Encouraging the audience he said, “The responsibility falls on each and every one of us to be self-educated. If you can find a job, find a job to take care of yourself and your family, but you also have to have a job in this defense of our country and in defense of liberty.”

Texas Congressman Dr. Ron Paul has served in Congress in the 1970s, then again in the 1980s. His most recent tenure began in 1996. He has enjoyed greater media exposure over the last year and is in demand as a featured speaker around the country. Dr. Paul’s timely message resonates with young Americans, as well as many conservative Republicans.

Judge Andrew Napolitano served on the New Jersey Bench and taught at the Seton Hall School of Law before retiring to pursue his television career, joining Fox News in 1998.  Napolitano addressed a crowd of over 10,000 Ohioans in Columbus on August 1, 2009.  He now hosts “Freedom Watch with Judge Napolitano” on FoxNews.com’s Strategy Room and often substitutes for Glenn Beck on the Glenn Beck Show.

“Hands Off Our Healthcare” Rally

Cincinnati, OH, March 12, 2010. The Cincinnati 9/12 Project, Cincinnati Tea Party and Americans for Prosperity join forces to sponsor a “Hands Off Our Healthcare Rally” on Tuesday March 16 in opposition to the health care reform bill awaiting passage in Congress. The rally begins at 6:00 p.m., doors open at 5:30 p.m. at Nathaniel Greene Lodge and will end at 7:30 p.m. Citizens can gather at the lodge in Veterans Park to voice their opposition and hear speakers present compelling arguments for killing the current health care bill. There will be several guest speakers from the medical community, OH Congress, and the sponsoring organizations.

Rally attendees will be urged to sign letters to Congressman Steve Driehaus and the Ohio Congressional Delegation urging a “no” vote on healthcare.  These letters will be uploaded to the OH Congress website and delivered to the local offices.  Together citizens, legislators, and media will to see the continued outpouring of opposition to the health care bill.
