FlexNet Model 530X – Are Your Water, Gas and Electric Companies Changing Out Meters?

I don’t know about this America… as I incurred the change out today with my electric meter.

Some interesting questions to ponder:
When was the last time that you remember ever calling the utility company in a panic because you needed to replace one of your meter boxes on your home or business?

Why the urgent need to uniformly change out meters across the nation now?

Why does it appear that there is a monopoly on FlexNet installed utility meters across the country?

How are the old meters, that are changed out, recycled?

How many layoffs will every utility company experience when all of these units are completely installed?

Have these meters been tested for durability with regard to humidity and excessive heat/cold environments and where are the results?

Do the terms nefarious, Big Brother,  and control spring to mind?

Sensus FlexNet Smart Point Field Programming

Exactly 1 year ago it appears that not all the bugs and preventive measures had even been addressed, let alone resolved regarding the entire “Smart Grid” operating systems with respect to utilities as the following video devulges:

Smart Grid, Utilities, and Internet Protocols

Why do I have a sense of foreboding? Definitely deems looking into financial connections and affiliations!

  1. The remote meters allow them to monitor your power in real time so they can tell if your usage correlates with remote transmission, inverse temperature use (indicates large computation use like bitcoins) or 12 hour shifts (indicates cannabis grow ops).

It also allows them to turn off power remotely to enforce government mandates against citizens. It should be noted that they have also been installing remote water and gas cut offs.

In Vegas the power company got over $700M of ‘job stimulus’ money which they used to install meters/remote cutoff units and eliminate thousands of jobs. The same $700M would be enough to build 3 new solar power plants which would have added jobs and helped reduce coal consumption.

  2. I NEED TO KNOW MORE ABOUT THIS SMART METER THAT THEY INSTALLED ON MY HOUSE. I LIVE IN NW FLORIDA UNDER GULF POWER CONTROL, I HAVE A PIC OF IT IF THAT HELPS. NEED TO KNOW THE FREQ AND POWER OUT PUT OF THE TRANSMITTER, HOW OFTEN ITS POLLED FOR INFO. IVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH THE ELECTRIC CO AND THEY ACT LIKE ITS NO BIG DEAL AND NOW HAVE LABLED ME AS A COMPLAINER.

    • Drop the picture in & I’ll see what I can find out. I know locally they come by physically & scan them monthly here but who knows how often they directly download from a centralized location.

Who is paying for the energy to operate the Digital Meter ? Is this load connected to NV Energy’s side of the meter or the customers? How much energy is used to transmit, receive and operate the electronics?

  4. See Sensus’s SMART METER’s studies regarding safety of unit… Consider the source… http://www.sensus.com/web/usca/rf
