Michael Behenna and the Upcoming Clemency Hearing

DEFENDMICHAEL.COM

To the thousands of Michael Behenna supporters,

A lot has transpired since our last update.

1) Michael’s case has been fully briefed with the Army Court of Appeals and we are waiting patiently for an argument date to be set by the court.  We are hopeful it will be before the end of the year.

2) Michael has another Clemency Hearing coming up – most likely in December (yes it has been a year since the Clemency Board reduced Michael’s sentence to fifteen years.)  Once we know the date of Michael’s Clemency Hearing we will send out another update asking people to write letters to the Clemency Board.

3) The Leavenworth 10 Rally over Labor Day Weekend was more successful than we could have ever imagined. We knew our  target date was short notice, but it came together thanks to a lot of hard work from countless volunteers. I especially want to express my heartfelt thanks for the generous donations from UECUS Inc and the Seals Warrior Fund as well as the hundreds of individuals who gave.  Your support helped pay for a tremendous event that built exposure for these 10 men who have been charged for protecting themselves or their men in a war zone.  Soon on the L10 web site www.L10freedomride.com we will be including all the Rally photographs and videos available for you to watch.  In the meantime the web sites below have many videos to review:

http://kansas.watchdog.org/5103/leavenworth-10-freedom-ride/ (video of the Ride through Leavenworth)

4) Michael’s website www.defendmichael.com has a whole new look.  We will be adding even more information and helpful links to assist Michael’s supporters as we continue our fight for his release.  Also, here is the newest video put on the DefendMichael.com website:  “A Mother’s Fight” by Gregory Gullbert. www.youtube.com/watch?v=IZAVAR6WrRI

And finally, PLEASE CONTINUE TO WRITE LETTERS TO MICHAEL.  The government’s delay in filing their brief and the delay in setting the date for oral arguments has left Michael feeling discouraged these past few weeks.  Michael lost his freedom almost nineteen months ago and it is your encouragement and support that truly sustains him through this injustice.  Send your letters to:

Bless you for your continued support of an American hero we proudly call our son,

Scott and Vicki Behenna

** I personally find it interesting that Michael’s hearing as well as Terry Lakin’s hearing are both to arrive after this election. Coincidence… doubtful! The Patriots are with Patriots – Michael and Terry!

Iowa Alert – Jonathan Narcisse’s Phantom Threats vs Well… You Be the Judge

What would the average American citizen do, if they were threatened, not just once, but multiple times? Common senseone would make a police reportbut not Iowan Jonathan Narcisse as reported in “School Board Meeting Erupts In Anger“:

“…”I’ve taken the threats seriously. I feel like I’ve taken precautions, upped by life insurance, talked to people about how to deal with it,” Narcisse said.

Strong asked, “Have you taken it to police?”

“I have spoken to police,” Narcisse said.

Des Moines police told KCCI that they have had no reports of any threats on Narcisse…”

Oh those mysterious phantom threats! Wherever did they go, especially since running for governor is a step above the school board!?!

However, irony should not escape anyone viewing statements made by Mr. Jonathan Narcisse on a 912er’s Facebook this very morning. Screen capture

The most transparent or veiled threat as viewed in paragraph three

“…For example when I’ve been asked how you get results in politics I have been very clear – you pull arms out of sockets, you shatter knee caps and at times you ask – open casket or cremation…”

Iowa… You be the judge!

Obviously, patterns persist and Iowa… you might want to watch for an additional party to take hold and lay claim to special funding/solicitations in Iowa. Big Hint! Huge Hint!

I’m just saying… VOTE SMART! Do Not Be an Enabler!

Iowa – Email Privacy Issues Follow Jonathan Narcisse Wherever He Goes

One would expect that any candidate for any state governor position, in these United States of America, to be of unquestionable character and ethics.

What if a candidate, for the office of Iowa Governor, has repeatedly displayed a lack of safeguarding and securing private and privileged information within the confines of their previous respective job duties? If I were an Iowa resident, I would certainly want to know any candidate’s record. For your perusal:

An exchange between the candidate and I occurred in comments, and I revealed via a new piece Jonathan Narcisse Has a Temper Tantrum and Pulls Out The Race Card on This Conservative Blogger.

In the meantime, someone right there in Iowa, privy to the fact that no phone calls were ever exchanged between Mr. Narcisse and myself, decided to suddenly get in the mix and was soundly rebuffed via a solo tribute When You Can’t Defend Yourself – Send in the Shills and his employer’s IP address blocked.

Mr. Jonathan Narcisse – INO (Independent in Name Only) ALERT to IOWA Voters!

Are you kidding me? What a slug! Is this the very best that Iowa has to offer? Jonathan Narcisse? A reformed, and I mean that in the changeling way, a Liberal Socialistic Democrat. It makes no difference how you dress one up with a new party tag, a DINO (Democrat in Name Only) who is trying to Trojan Horse the chameleon tactic of the Independent party candidate label, for ease of passing through the gate of the Governor’s mansion, shouldn’t fool anyone in Iowa or anywhere else.

Jonathan Narcisse At Campaign For Liberty Meeting

IowaWorthFightingFor | November 08, 2009

Jonathan Narcisse gives a speech to the Campaign for Liberty crowd. His Iowa Worth Fighting For speech A Ten Step Plan for Twentieth Century Governance drew several applause. People all around Iowa are aware of the need to reshape our state government and Jon’s plan is key to achieving this goal.

To the shoddy filming, to the crowd’s well established speaking voice overs and “placed on ignore” of Narcisse, to his steady reading without a teleprompter but a well stocked podium, Iowa can not possibly be impressed.

so interested in Mr. Jonathan Narcisse? hmm?

Possibly due to Mr. Narcisse himself…

The whining TOQ V3N3 for a distinct portion of the population?

Look at the CCs on a email that he replied to a Student, how embarrassing was this for the student? No privacy!

A glorified and titled Community Organizer? FY 2004 for a distinct portion of the population?

Tipping into Alinsky attack tactics? Narcisse Weekly Report, an ample example:

“…My question, Dr. Sebring, was about socio-economic status and circumstance. Regarding only two categories of socio-economic status I am confused. When I look at our socio-economic data I see categories like race and English Language Learners. Also by circumstance I find we maintain special education data.

Now if I am wrong about race, for example, being a socio-economic category, can you expand the provided information to include breakdowns by race, special education enrollment and English Language Learner status?

As for spending at the building level it will help to have a breakdown both by what is directly spent at the classroom level and what is spent directly at the building level. What I don’t want to see in this circumstance are District costs stretched out over our many schools. For the sake of insight I would like to know how much of spending takes place at the site level and how much at the District level.

Also, having this information will either confirm or dispel a wide spread perception out there. Lacking the resources of my opponents to do mass mailings and purchase lots of advertising, I had to rely on a very grassroots, groundpounding approach to getting elected. This involved going to schools, senior centers, churches and knocking on countless doors. I even stopped people in public settings like at the grocery store and asked them their opinions. This approach, I believe, contributed to me having a very diverse geographic base of support as broken down in the Register’s analysis following the election.

There is a split in this town Dr. Sebring. It is deep and heart felt. It is perceived one side of town gets their students taken care of and the rest don’t. I am not accepting this portrayal as fact. Instead I would like to examine the hard data and then, and only then, form my opinion. This seems the responsible approach to addressing such a widespread concern as articulated to me both in 2005 and 2007…”

Apparently he doesn’t like to be questioned, searched or assist with any routine police investigations PROCEEDINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORALVILLE, JOHNSON

Where have I seen this before? hmm?

Oh but it gets even better Jonathan Narcisse Is A Loser Who Doesn’t Pay His Bills

I guess it worked well enough for the President he supported, so he assumes that it works as handily for Iowa’s gubernatorial candidate!

Did Marshall University Research Corporation Make a Stimulus Quote Mistake?

I just can’t seem to tear myself away from stimuluswatch.org as there never appears to be any progress. Case in point ~ Marshall University Research Corporation:

University Communications – Press Release

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Marshall research community to benefit from $2.6 million federal stimulus award to state

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall University researchers and students will benefit from a $2.6 million National Science Foundation grant to the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission.

The cyberinfrastructure award, which was announced earlier this week by U.S. Sen. Jay Rockefeller and West Virginia Gov. Joe Manchin, will assist with scientific discovery by building capacity and promoting the use of high-performance computing cluster resources at Marshall University, West Virginia University and West Virginia State University.

More than $1 million of the grant funds will be used at Marshall over the next three years to help upgrade computing networks and enhance immersive visualization capabilities.

Dr. Tony Szwilski, professor of engineering and director of the university’s Center for Environmental, Geotechnical and Applied Sciences, will coordinate the project on Marshall’s campus. Other members of the Marshall community who are involved include Dr. Jan Fox, senior vice president for information technology and chief information officer; Joseph Fuller, associate professor of  computer science; Dr. Venkat Gudivada, professor of  computer science; and Dr. Jack Smith, visualization manager.

According to Dr. John Maher, vice president for research and executive director of the Marshall University Research Corporation, the grant will be used to establish advanced high-performance computing and visualization resources at Marshall and to assist with connection to other high-performance computing systems and resources around the world, allowing faculty researchers – and their students – to collaborate in real time without geographic limitations.

“Engineering and scientific research today require computing infrastructure that will allow faculty to work with very large data sets and complex computational systems. This project will give our researchers tools to make them more competitive for outside funding, and will allow them to work with colleagues across the country and around the world,” said Maher. “We are pleased to be part of this collaborative.”

Fox added that the computerized visualization capabilities provided through the grant will help faculty communicate and explore both abstract and concrete ideas in health care and scientific and engineering research.

By providing computing power that was, until recently, available only to the most prestigious research institutions, this project will assist Marshall’s growing research community in its quest to address problems that require the minds and resources of a global, collaborative community,” she said. “From the development of approaches to real-time, image-guided surgery to the provision of a platform for management of communities, emergencies and other complex processes, the capabilities provided by this funding will have a long-term, positive impact on our community, state and nation.”

In addition to the research equipment that will be provided through the grant, the project will help develop a work force that can create and sustain cyber-based systems, tools and services. A network of faculty and information technology professional staff will be developed at Marshall to help researchers expand the use of high-performance computing and advanced visualization in their work, as well as to provide expertise on the operational and technical aspects of using supercomputing resources.

“Cyberinfrastructure includes computational systems, data and information management, visualization environments and people – all linked together by collaborative software and advanced networks,” said Szwilski. “These significant resources will be a catalyst at Marshall for technology innovation and economic development.”

He added that complementary outreach activities will be undertaken at the high school, undergraduate and graduate levels to help teach students computational science and visualization skills, also with the goal of developing a high-tech work force.

The award was funded under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. For more information, contact Szwilski at szwilski@marshall.edu.
